Down Under: Cairns - Port Douglas

It's really boring after dark here @ Cairns, Port Douglas.
Had to find an internet cafe to spend my night... till 10pm... ie. 8pm back home.
Just a quick recap of what happened for the first 2 days... lazy to post all of the pictures.. so just a few major ones...

1106 monday 0310h
We arrived at Sydney Airport very early in the morning.
so we were sleeping in the transit lounge till it was time to go... and me was as usual playing with my camera...

0735h finally we can board the plane to cairns... together with a lot of japanese high school girls as the plane was heading to narita actually. Even though i was so tired that i slept on the plane (which i usually can't get to), i woke up to look out of the window with fantastic views!

At the hotel we transferred a shuttle to our lodge @ Port Douglas. Took us about an hour from airport. Slept on the shuttle until the driver woke us to see some crocs along the riverside as it was low tide. We reached the lodge at 1315h to find that the reception was only opened at 1400h... so we waited and was talking to some kids from hong kong who were working and travelling. (more tales to be told later on) The day stopped when we were both so tired and decided to just SLEEP. and WALA... we slept till 0730h the next morning!

12th June 0800h
Called Wavelength to booked the snorkelling trip on the great barrier reefs... said only to have space for the next day. and so we went out to rent a car.... went to avis, all cars out. budget only had a toyota camry which was too big for us. and the next stop Network had a toyota corolla at A$69 so we got it.

Daintree Rainforest
Su drove up to the Daintree village and there we realised we had to ferry our car and ourselves over to the main rainforest... coolz...

There was the discovery center which looked like the one at sungei buloh... which costs A$25... we decided to just take a foto at the door and yay! been there done that! hee...

Few nice spots we've seen along the drive... oh manz... i love the place... cooling and relaxed...

Less for the trip up to Cape Tribulation which actually needed a 4WD to go through. We finally realised why cos the roads were so rough ... gravel paths with potholes all over... i was almost puking on the way back... manz...

Luckily everything was over soon and we are on our way to Cairns City Central... took us another 1.5 hours to get there... but along the way... the coastline was superb!!! i love it so much at the Rex Look out!! The view.. the breeze... where to get this in Singapore!

Cairns City Central Shopping Center...
closes at 6pm except for their sushi restaurant inside... we decided to go somewhere else for dinner...

Decided to settle for Pizza @ a Cinema theater and later on decided to go watch SHREK 3 as we did not want to go back to our dingy Parrotfish lodge so early... rather stay out later... and we had a really GOOD LAUGH!!!

However the trip back was really interesting and scary...
the roads were all pitch dark and we had to drive with high beams... i was praying so hard for safety and of course the animals crossing.. and sad to say i think we hit a wombat on the roads... RIP... lucky the 2 emus and another wombat managed to escape... i hope the wombat was not hurt badly but we did hear a slight BOM ... sigh... went back and topped up the fuel and decided to just drop the car off before we head back to the lodge...

So much for our 2 days...
Another postponing of our snorkelling trip cos of insufficient numbers. Decided to dump wavelength for Poseidon. Cheaper somemore! So Looking forward to snorkelling! im sure the reefs will be beautiful!!! =)

Stay tuned for my photos! =)

Take care u guys back @ home.
Will be back soon...
