Down the not-as-painful-as-now Memory Lane

As the ball goes rolling about the real meaning of study leave for the students in our humble little college, i can't help but agree with all these brave souls who had voiced their opinions.

Free Speech eh, but i'm not so sure about Freedom after speech.

Now and then i see my Year 2s, be it for lessons or after school, they are of extremities. They can look like zombies and just write when they are asked to write, read when they are asked to read; or they can just be nutcases and rant non-stop, in my eyes, they are going to snap real soon. When we have lessons, we just crap for a while before going on ... sometimes i really hope a hearty good laugh will make them feel better.

After dinner, i was pondering over what happened today in class, what went through my mind when some colleagues hit the nail on the head, and i was trying very hard to recall what happened during my JC years. Much of it was the mugging in the bandroom, play study play study etc, with a short little while of fear when the rumours of retaining came through our ears.

Come to think of it, our lessons end pretty early always, and i remember having lots and lots of breaks when i can finish my 红楼梦notes in the band room, analysing line by line(oh manz, what a geek i was). And now i see my students struggling like mad. i can't help thinking, issit our system thats stretching our kids so hard that they are like rubber bands that are going to snap anytime anywhere?

Lemme take u on a guided tour of my disgusting result slips. I know they are of some history....
we had many more of such result slips as i think we had ATs (ie. Academic Test) every Saturday mornings. It was dreadful as we had to study on Friday nights and slog all the way to school on a saturday morning to take the test. After that will be a long full day of ECA that made the day easier to pass. As u can see for urself. I'm a lousy @ GP and worse in Econs and Maths. Well, i reckoned Im not good with numbers, even though im the commerce stream.
ok. here's the next one. PROMO results. Fantastic, good improvement in Econs but a drop in GP. a disgusting D7 which landed me in the lousiest band in GP (probably that's why im repenting by teaching the CLBs now)as well as GP Clinic. My Maths was a headache cos i remember Ms Chi keep circling and circling my tutorials but i still dont understand. Whatever she had said seemed really foreign to me now. Poisson or Binomial... we dread to answer that then... and i still donno! Then there was the stupid rumour of retaining, but we couldnt care less! Play first! well... BCDE was my results and me and my frens were diciphering what was gawd trying to tell us >> u need to be 脚踏实地when u study, very soon u will get ABCD!! haha. Another of my fren who got FOOD >> we reckoned that he needs alot of food to keep himself going. Replenish! before u start a war with the A levels!! Well we all landed up as teachers though. gosh.
Now this is the Prelims. I don't remember much except that im a subject less. cos i dropped econs even though i got a C. Till now i still have frens who tell me im nuts dropping econs with a C but can't care much, i was suffering so much writing all the essays. i can fully sympathize with my students now when they said they had studied but can't seem to apply the correct stuffs! kill me please! Well, grades had not improved much since year one promos, still the same, except for the lil improvement in GP as we had a much stricter teacher in year 2(*heard she went to the best college in the island after that)

The Best was this testimonial i had. I think it was my CT who collated info and typed it in with a few typo errors. well, reading it makes me feel like a kid again. I knew my efforts then were not paid off, I knew i got the fighting spirit in my grey uniform. We must be strong. like the lion on our crest!!! haha!!

Studying was tough in the grey uniform but i did have loads of fun then.
We don't conform to the saying that "we are as boring as our uniform" even it reminded me of this stupid cheer that goes "我们有红,我们有白,我们有狮子在旁边”duhz! that's the most duh cheer i've heard and guess what, it's the only one i remembered! sianz.

Those were the days.
I hope our kids remember their school days with fond memories and not the opposite.

加油everybody!
