静话论

一杯咖啡。一段故事。一人的绝症。

For all that you've taught me...

Had not missed a single Etude ever since i left.
It's the only existing thing i ever missed about the college if there's any.

As i rushed down from ECP, reached Esplanade only at 7:25pm. damn the esplanade for that blocked reception, so i had to act pitiful infront of mrs lim and she gave me a complimentary ticket to minimise my loss. But sadly, i missed the fanfare, which was the ritual to start the concert.

I stood outside the hall watching you wave ur baton through the screen. The usher uncle chit-chatted with me for a while and he actually thought i just graduated or is about to graduate. i looked at the screen as the band played Final Fantasy Xtravaganza arranged by a senior himself. it feels good to hear it. The sounds of NJCSB.

The band played armenian dances when i went in. followed by a great piece called Scheherazade: the story of the kanlandar prince. i think this was the best piece of the night. i will really forget much of the first half if not for this piece.

As the emcee announced for the interval to start.
i went out of the hall for the most important thing: reception on the mobile.
called Giam, met shimin, and giam managed to get me past the tight security of the backstage.

i went knocking on your door.
the moment you saw me, you called out my name.

u told me every year, to visit the band more often.
but i only managed to turn up for an extra one during the JC band festival.
what's holding me back.

every year i turned up for etude and i see you on stage. said hi and a little update.
every year i see the etude numbers increase, increase and increase. To serve as a reminder, time is flowing fast.

this time we talked a little more.
a little bit more time to stop and think about life.
a little bit more time for me to seek your advice.
a little bit more time for us to just talk about ourselves.

when the going gets tough, i thought of those days when u talked to me when i was 17. my lack of confidence before appointment. guiding me along the way. my sense of achievement after my term. that last hug, telling me i had done well. and to remember i am alwiz part of this band. i never realised how much you had taught me, until today.

i missed the stage band and percussion ensemble.
but i heard the alumni playing wizard of oz and korean folk song.
i should have been there.
every year i tell myself i will be there next year, but i never did.
Guilty.

El Camino Real was a blast.
like shimin said, its amazing how come we can still remember exactly where the horns come in and our exact parts (when we havent even touched the instrument for ages).
we played this on our first college day. and now we hear it again. i donno why, but much thoughts welled up my mind, its all so far away.

school anthem. the ritual to end. i stood up. only then i realise that the kids all around me are all njcians. they were all hesitating to stand, but still stood up in the end. STAND UP! FOR UR SCHOOL BAND. KIDDOS!

It all ended. normal. the etude way.
i knew i will be back next year.
i hope i will be back on stage.
i wish i can turn back time.

Etude, NJCSB, Mr Ho and all the memories.
For all the experience and advice.
for all that you've taught me.... I Thank U.
i wouldnt be what i am if not for Band.
